Our professional holistic therapy careers began after 25 plus years in our respective corporate careers. We were faced with the prospect of losing our jobs as a result of downsizing, the effect of 9/11 on the airline industry and the resulting downturn of the economy. Michael was working as a Project Engineer for a local firm, which produced commerical airline seating products. Theresa worked for twelve years as a Business Service Consultant with a telecommunications company prior to being downsized in 1996. She continued her career in customer service, sales and marketing for various manufacturing firms until her last layoff.

We saw this change as an opportunity to follow another path - to help others, and establish our own holistic health practice. As one door closed, another one opened and we leaped through it holding hands with eyes wide open. We officially opened our business "Inspired Touch, LLC." on October 1st, 2002.

We were able to convert nearly 500 sq. ft. of our home at 519 Greenwoods Road, Torrington, into beautiful home office space. We have a private massage room, reflexology room, sitting area, entryway and a client bathroom. Our clients have complimented us on the serenity, healing energy and warmth our space offers.

We take great care to provide a caring, peaceful environment in which clients can feel comfortable, relaxed and safe. Body, mind and spirit are all compassionately nurtured. We educate our clients to assist in their recovery from repetitive injury syndrome.

Some of our healing modalities incorporate both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques. Our modalities are complementary to Western allopathic medicine and are not a substitute for conventional medical treatment. We do not diagnose illness, prescribe medical treatment or pharmaceuticals, nor do we perform any type of spinal manipulation. We recommend you consult your physician for any serious condition.

Inspired Touch, LLC works with the Community:

Inspired Touch at The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital

We helped implement and continue to manage a patient comfort program called "Tender Loving Care" (TLC) at The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. We teach and mentor volunteers who give patients gentle hand and foot "rubs". This service is offered free of charge to patients during their Hospital stay. We affectionately call our volunteers "TLC Ambassadors". The volunteers undergo a six-hour training and education program on communication and listening skills as well as hands-on skills. If you are interested in becoming a "TLC Ambassador" please contact Sue Farkas, Team Leader of Volunteer Services, at (860) 496-6349.

In the summer of 2005, we opened an office for the Integrative Therapies Program at The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. The Hospital recently instituted a new program to introduce integrative therapies into its traditional medical care offerings. This creates a partnership in which the patient and the health practitioner address a holistic approach to healing the mind and spirit, as well as the body.

The In-Patient Program offers professional massage therapy and reflexology services in the privacy of the patient's Hospital room. This program is a fee-for-service, payable by cash or gift certificate to the therapist at the time of service. It makes a wonderful gift for those visiting friends or loved ones in the Hospital. For more information regarding these services, please contact us
